A Training Programme for Viva Colombia

VIVA Colombia is the leading low cost airline in Colombia. As the airline migrated to the Navitaire NewSkies platform, it had to train staff at its Bogotá headquarters and at multiple locations across the country, including airports and call centers. Getting up to speed fast with NewSkies was critical for the ongoing activities of the airline. The training programme had also to take into account the expected growth of the company and the future training needs.

The Solution

We took responsibility for the design and implementation of rigorous on-site training programme and the production of user manuals customized to the needs of VIVA Colombia. One of our top Navitaire experts flew to Colombia, where, over the course of several months, supervised the roll-out of a “train-the-trainer-programme” to build internal competencies and know-how in the use of Navitaire NewSkies.

Train the Trainer

“Train the Trainer” is one of Newshore’s most resounding successes in the field of training and support and it is the main way we ensure the scalability of its training and support programme. With this methodology, a number of airline staff, designated as “trainers”, go through an extended, more intensive, training programme that includes customized training materials, focusing on the features of the PSS system that are more relevant to the airline in question.

The Outcome

VIVA Colombia completed the full migration to the Navitaire NewSkies system successfully and on schedule. A core group of employees continue to successfully train hundreds of other staff, reducing the need for external support from Navitaire.
